Hi, I’m Brett Hutchins, founder of Metrolina Title Research Company. I have been working in the real estate closing business since 1988, when I learned as a high school student to search titles from Charlotte legend, William (Bill) R. Echols, III. I continued to work for Bill through my four years at North Carolina State University (Go Pack!). As I was preparing for my next step toward medical school, I took a year to study for the MCAT and continued to work in the title research business as an independent paralegal. I really enjoyed the research part of title searches, putting pieces of a puzzle together to finally produce a clear picture of the chain of ownership. I started to see a different path for my career, and I could see a way ahead of me that included one day owning my own research firm; but I needed more experience before I could make that leap. So, I took a job with another well-known real estate and foreclosure attorney in Charlotte, and learned nearly all sides of the closing and foreclosure business. Over several years with this firm, I was tasked with searching titles, producing settlement statements, witnessing closings, and holding foreclosure sales on the courthouse steps of most of our 100 North Carolina counties. With this great experience, I was ready to step out on my own in 1998, and so it was…Metrolina Title Research Company was born!

When I’m not working, I enjoy every moment on the golf course, even when my swing is not cooperating. I have a beautiful wife, Beth, and between us, we have five young-adult children (and two dogs). As much as I enjoy being on the golf course, my most enjoyable time is when I’m with Beth and our family. We love spending time at the beach and in the mountains, and we dream of one day being able to travel more. Over the years, I’ve been very involved in youth sports programs, coaching, and serving on the board of FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes).
